The Reality by Sanlam client loyalty programme (“Reality”) is a Sanlam Group initiative. It is offered by Real Futures (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Sanlam Ltd.

Reality’s objective is to help you – our Sanlam Group clients – by empowering you to secure independently sourced information that gives you an understanding and knowledge of the financial planning process so that you can make informed and sound financial decisions with your financial planner.

In addition, the Sanlam Group has secured a wide range of benefits in the form of discount opportunities from its subsidiaries and affiliates, and from suppliers so that, when you participate in Reality, you can share in these benefits.

When you, as a Reality member, use these benefits, you are rewarded for doing so and, at the same time, are made more aware of this initiative’s more serious, informative functions.

These Reality terms and conditions constitute an agreement between Real Futures (Pty) Ltd and you – as a Sanlam Group client – when you join Reality, governing the rights and obligations of both parties each time you access Reality. By joining and accessing Reality, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Reality terms and conditions, as they may be amended from time to time.

    • Eligibility and exclusions

Sanlam Group clients are eligible to join Reality if they are South African citizens with valid identity documents and are 18 years or older. In case of CAMAF members a valid passport will also be accepted.

Sanlam client

A Sanlam client is any individual who is an existing Sanlam client and is the policyholder or is the insured party of fund-owned policies of a specified product.     • Personal use of Reality Benefits

Any benefit provided by, through, or on behalf of any Reality partner (such as Private Label Promotions) or on the basis of membership of Reality is for the sole and exclusive personal use of paid-up Reality members only. Access to, and the use and enjoyment of any Reality benefit are for Reality members and their families only.
Unless expressly provided for (in, for example, family gym membership, one-call services, and Reality 2FOR1 dining), no Reality member shall access, either directly or indirectly, or be entitled to access any Reality benefit for the use and enjoyment of any person other than that Reality member.
In particular, no Reality member shall access, either directly or indirectly, any Reality benefit in any way whatsoever for the use, enjoyment or benefit of any business or any member, agent, employee, subcontractor, client, or customer and the like of any such business or businesses of that Reality member or business associate of that Reality member.
No person, entity, or business shall access, either directly or indirectly, or be entitled or authorized to access any Reality benefit on the basis of any association of whatever nature to a Reality member.
Reality may, immediately, without notice and without incurring any liability whatsoever to a Reality member or to any third party, terminate the membership of that Reality member and, where applicable, the membership of any person acting for or acting on behalf of that Reality member whenever any Reality benefit is accessed, used or enjoyed by any person, entity or business not entitled to do so.
Own risk and indemnity: Reality members must fully understand and accept that the use and enjoyment of any or all benefits, products, and services offered by any Reality partner shall be undertaken at their and, where applicable, a family member’s own risk. Reality members on behalf of themselves, their executors, and their aforesaid family members hereby indemnify, hold harmless, and absolve, Real Futures (Pty Ltd) and the Sanlam Group of Companies against and from all claims whatsoever that may arise in connection with any loss of or damage to the property or injury to the person of themselves or aforesaid family member in the course of any use or enjoyment of the benefits, products, or services.

Reality members can enjoy a gym membership at very affordable rates at approved Virgin Active, Planet Fitness and certain other accredited gyms.

Qualifying rules for gym benefits:

  • Members enter into separate agreements at Reality and the gym of their choice and qualify for membership as set out in the separate terms and conditions.
  • Failure to comply with the product criteria above will result in the gym benefit being cancelled. Members will lose their gym discount (dependent on the gym joined at) and any rewards payable by Reality. Should members then wish to reinstate their gym benefit, the required product rule must be met, and once again follow the membership application process.
  • Spouses or dependents only qualify for Reality gym membership on the Health Family options.
  • CAMAF principle member’s spouses or dependents over the age of 18 years may qualify as spouse/ dependents under the Reality Health Family option. Reality gym benefits, rules, terms and conditions as applicable to the Health Family option will also apply to these spouse/ dependents.
  • Spouses or dependents are defined by the CAMAF medical scheme rules.

Membership Fee rules for gym benefits:

  • Members enter into separate agreements with Reality and the gym of their choice, including payment of membership fees.
  • Gym membership fees differ and are determined by the gyms themselves (not by Reality). Gym fees may be obtained from the gym of your choice and Reality.
  • Any gym fee changes are instituted by the gyms themselves, usually on an annual basis.
  • Bank account details are required by the gyms to debit fees for gym and Reality membership separately.
  • Where applicable, a once-off gym joining fee is payable to the gym upon application for gym membership.
  • No once-off joining fees are payable to Reality.
  • The bank account of members is debited separately with the Reality fee amount dependent on the Reality option of their choice.
  • In case of spouse/dependents the bank account of a principal is debited with the Reality fee amount dependent on the Reality membership option of their choice.
  • The payment of fees is by debit order only. Stop-order or cash payments are not accepted.
  • Reality reserves the right to amend the Reality membership fee, usually on an annual basis.

Monthly Gym Fee Discount Benefit:

Reality has negotiated the following gym-specific monthly discounts on gym fees for Reality Gym members:

  • Virgin Active: 15% discount
  • Planet Fitness: 20% discount
  • Accredited gyms: Determined by the gym (and could also only mean reward payments are applicable)

Rules for monthly gym fee discounts:

  • Monthly home gym fee discounts are applicable provided that both Reality and gym memberships are active and payments are not in arrears.
  • Failure to meet these conditions may result in the defaulting member forfeiting the applicable discount and paying normal gym fee rates.
  • No refund is payable to members on fee discounts where members defaulted on their monthly membership payments are in arrears.

  • Gym reward benefit rules: The reward calculation is based on the member’s monthly gym access count and gym fee value as received from the gym.
  • Virgin Active- and Planet Fitness supplies Reality with member’s gym access count and gym fee values on a monthly basis. Members of these gyms need not to supply Reality with the information
  • Accredited gyms do not supply Reality with member’s gym access count and gym fee values. It is the responsibility of members at accredited gyms to obtain this information from their gym and send it to Reality on a monthly basis. Reality is not responsible for non-payment of rewards due to information not supplied by members.
  • It is the responsibility of Accredited gym members to supply Reality with their monthly gym access count before the 5th of each month. Failure to supply Reality with this information on time will lead to non-payment of rewards.
  • rewards are paid monthly and in arrears to qualifying members.
  • Members qualify for monthly rewards provided that both their Reality and gym membership is active.
  • Members qualify for monthly rewards provided that both Reality and gym fees are fully paid up by members. rewards are not payable in the event of membership fees being in arrears, either at Reality or at the gyms. Should a member make payment for fees in arrears, no reward is payable by Reality in arrears.
  • rewards are calculated using the last month’s activity prior to your debit order being deducted as reported by the gyms.
  • The maximum reward payable on the Health Gym options is R402.50 per active paying member.
  • It is the member’s responsibility to ensure that their gym visits are recorded accurately each time they visit their gym. If members visit their gym more than once per day, only one visit will be counted per day for reward purposes.
  • rewards are paid into member’s bank account using the latest banking information available to Reality. Reality will not be held responsible for incorrect reward payments due to members not ensuring their correct banking details supplied to Reality.
  • Reality will use the principal member’s banking details for the payment deposit of rewards earned by spouse/dependents.
  • It is the member’s responsibility to ensure that the correct banking details are supplied to Reality.
  • Reality will use gym access count information as received by Virgin Active and Planet Fitness to determine reward payments to members at these gyms.

How to apply for Reality Gym benefits:

Separate agreements with Reality and the gym as selected by the member need to be entered into.
Members can either apply for membership through Reality or the gym of their choice. However, we recommend you start by calling Reality on 0860 732 548/9 and speak to a consultant.

  • Activate your Reality membership:
  • Contact Reality at 0860 732 548/9 where one of our friendly agents will assist.
    • Inform our agent that you wish to enjoy the Reality gym benefits. The agent will discuss your options to enjoy benefits.
    • The agent will confirm that you qualify for gym membership.
    • You will have to provide your details to Reality including your banking details for debit order purposes of the Reality fee.
    • You will be registered at Reality and referred to the gym of your choice to join there if you have not yet done so.

 

  • Activate your gym membership:
    • Contact the gym of your choice and indicate that you wish to join the gym as a Reality member.
    • You will have to provide your details to the gym, including your banking details for debit order purposes of the gym fee.
    • You may have to pay a joining- and card fee, dependent on the gym rules.
    • You will be registered at the gym and be referred to Reality to join there.
    • Virgin Active Reality members will receive a 15% discount from the gym on your home gym fees as per agreement between Reality and Virgin Active. Ensure this is applied by the gym.
    • Planet Fitness Reality members will receive a 20% discount from the gym on your home gym fees as per agreement between Reality and Planet Fitness. Ensure this is applied by the gym.
    • An instruction will be sent from Virgin Active/Planet Fitness to Reality to validate your Reality membership based on the qualifying products.
    • If you do not qualify for Reality membership, the gym will change your gym contract from a Reality gym contract to a public contract. No discounts are applicable to the public contract, and your gym fee will increase to associated public contract gym fees.
    • At accredited Gyms, gym fees are negotiated between you and the gym. Should you not qualify to be a Reality gym member, your gym fee will remain unchanged, but you will not qualify for a Reality gym reward benefit.

How to cancel your Reality Gym Benefits: Separate cancellation rules- and fees apply at Reality and the gyms. Members must cancel their membership separately at Reality and their gym.

  • Cancel your Reality membership:
    • Contact Reality at 0860 732 548/9 and inform our agent that you wish to cancel your Reality membership
    • Cancel your gym membership:
      • Contact your gym and inform the agent that you wish to cancel your gym membership.
    • A one-calendar month notice period applies to members wishing to cancel their Reality gym membership, with fees payable in the notice month. rewards will still be paid if members qualify for payment according to the Reality rules.
    • Members are bound by cancellation rules as applied by the gym which they joined which may include cancellation fees.

Reality may cancel your Reality Gym Benefits:

  • Reality may cancel gym memberships if debit-order payments are rejected by a bank. No rewards will be payable to members in the event of bank payment rejections.
  • Reality may cancel Reality gym memberships should the qualifying product requirements not be met.
  • No rewards will be payable to members in the event of membership being cancelled by Reality.
  • Members are bound by cancellation rules as applied by the gym which they joined.

Sickness and Travel rules on Reality Gym reward benefits:

  • Members need to contact their gym for details on rules applied for freezing of membership.
Gym Benefit applicable to certain members who joined prior to 16 September 2011

IMPORTANT:

  • Gym benefit to be discontinued from 1 November 2012.
  • Gym benefit not available to new members.

Gym Rules applicable to existing Reality+ Gym- and Reality++ Gym options for members joining prior to 16 September 2011:
Your membership fee is divided into two parts:

  1. Reality membership fee
    A fixed monthly Reality membership fee of R179 is payable for the Reality + Gym option or Reality ++ Gym option.
  2. Gym club fee
    since different clubs have different monthly gym club fees, your gym club fee depends on the club type and club product that you take up. Enquire at your gym to find out which club product your membership falls into. This fee is determined by the gym itself and not by Reality. From time to time – generally annually – gyms either increase or decrease their gym club fee.
    Reality members on the gym option are entitled to discounts in order to reward an active healthier lifestyle.
  3. You enter into one agreement for both the gym and Reality through Reality.

Gym benefit

Your Reality gym benefit is also divided into two parts:

  1. Base gym benefit
    Members who are on the Reality gym option receive a monthly base gym benefit of R100, no matter which Virgin Active or Planet Fitness branch you belong to.
  2. Usage-based gym benefit
    The gym benefit is based on your gym usage – the more you gym, the bigger your monthly benefit!

Your gym usage is calculated using the last month’s activity prior to your debit order being deducted. Note that the minimum fee that you pay for your Reality gym option is R179 per month. Your deduction date may, in some cases, however, be calculated on the activity two months prior to the payment date.

How to calculate your debit order

To work out what your monthly debit order will be, simply use the following formula:
Reality gym membership fee + gym club fee – (base gym benefit + usage-based gym benefit) = Total Reality debit-order payment for month.

For example, if a member accesses gym 12 times per month, the monthly fee is R179 + R370 – (R100 + R300) = R199.
This is for illustrative purposes only, as gym club fees differ. Enquire at your local gym to find out what your gym club fee is.
Note that, if the total gym benefit (base and usage-based gym benefit) that you earn exceeds your monthly gym club fee, your account is debited with your monthly Reality+ Gym or Reality++ Gym membership fee of R179 only.

Rules on gym benefits prior to 16 September 2011:

  • A cancellation fee of R500 is payable if gym members cancel their gym membership within the first year of their gym contract.
  • For Planet Fitness members, a cancellation fee of R500 is payable if members cancel their gym membership within the first year of their contract. For Virgin Active members, a cancellation fee of 30% of their outstanding home gym fees for the outstanding period left of the first year, is payable.
  • Members may gym only at the original club that they joined, unless they take out premier membership via a special arrangement directly with their gym club.
  • Reality may cancel gym memberships if debit-order payments are rejected by a bank.
  • The bank account of principal members with a spouse or dependents on their gym membership is debited with the total amount relating to the principal member, spouse, and dependents on a Reality gym contract. * The payment of fees is by debit order only; stop-order or cash payments are not accepted.
  • If there are dependents on members’ Reality gym membership either at the same club or at another club, the above gym benefits apply to each dependent of 18 years or older; principal members must be a Reality ++ member or Reality ++ Gym member for the dependents to be Reality ++ gym members under the Reality contract.
  • All dependents younger than 18 years may train for free and pay only a one-off card fee of R75; enquire at your club for more detail.
  • Spouse/dependents (over the age of 18 years) of BESTmed principal members may remain Reality gym members in their own capacity. All Reality benefits, rules, terms and conditions applicable to gym members apply to such spouse/dependents.
  • BESTmed spouses are defined by BESTmed medical scheme rules.
  • If any member of a family on the old gym benefit model chooses to move onto the Reality gym reward model, then the entire family must move over.
  • There is a one-calendar month notice period to cancel gym membership; members still have access to their gym during this notice period.
  • It is the member’s responsibility to ensure that their gym visits are recorded accurately each time they visit their gym. If members visit their gym more than once per day, only one visit will be counted per day for discount purposes.
  • Gym club fees are determined by the gyms attended and not by Reality. Gyms increase or decrease their gym club fees from time to time, usually annually. Reality uses the gym club fees information received from the gyms to calculate monthly fees payable and does not refund members in the event of gym club fee changes:
  • Reality gym members must, at all times, be the primary member of at least two qualifying Sanlam Group products OR of a BESTmed product to remain Reality gym members. Failure to comply with this will lead to the gym benefit being cancelled and Reality membership being downgraded. If the member then wishes to reinstate their gym benefit, the required product rule must be met and the members must, join the existing gym benefit options available (monthly gym fee discount- or gym reward options).
  • A one-calendar month notice applies if members want to cancel or downgrade their Reality gym membership, with fees payable in the notice month.
  • Both Virgin Active and Planet Fitness gyms determine their own home-gym fee value, which they change from time to time, usually in January of each year. Any change in home-gym fees, as notified by the gyms, is applied in the calculation of the monthly fee payable. No refunds apply in the case of home-gym fee changes.
  • Members on Reality + and Reality ++ options can only be upgraded to Reality + Gym or Reality ++ Gym options after a minimum period of six months have passed after they have signed-up for the original options.
  • Members wishing to change their existing gym benefit, either by changing gyms, upgrades, cancellations and re-registrations will be changed to the gym benefit options available (monthly gym discount- or gym reward options).

Sickness and Travel (applicable to gym benefits applicable before 16 September 2011)

  • If the member supplies the CC with a sick certificate or flight details where the end date is greater than 30 days past, this request will not be eligible. However in certain instances where necessary, Reality will determine if the request is valid or not. This will be treated on an ad hoc basis.
  • Members travelling abroad, even if for holiday and not using flights for two weeks or more and will be unable to attend the gym, will also qualify for the standard fee provided that they:
    • Are travelling outside the borders of the country
    • Will be abroad for a two week period or more
    • Supply sufficient proof of travel plans (example proof of payments made, passport details, travel dates)
    • Do not have access to any PF or VA branch where they are travelling (which will only be outside the country borders)
  • The maximum period to qualify for the standard fee is 3 months.

Preventative Wellness Rewards:

Rules:

  • RealityHealth Single- and Family HealthHealth option members only qualify for this benefit as incentive to take preventative measures to improve their health.
  • Rewards are automatically awarded via the claims process at CAMAF and as received by Reality.
  • Reality Partners are entitled to deny Benefits to Members, if the members account with Reality partners is in arrears. Reality will not be responsible for any:
  • Delay in information submitted by the Reality Partners; or
  • Reality Benefits denied by Reality Partners.
  • Preventative Wellness Rewards are allocated to members in the form of eBucks.

    International Travel Benefit:
    International Travel Benefits are provided by Europ Assistance as agreed with Reality. Full terms and conditions as contained in the Europ Assistance Policy Document apply to members making use of this benefit.

    Who is covered by the International Travel Extention?

    • Members registered on the Reality Single- and Family Health options including dependents.
    • Members who are younger than 3 months or older than 80 years (from 81 years) are not covered. Members must either contact Europ Assistance, their travel agent or another travel insurance company to arrange cover for members that do not qualify for this insurance.

    Does the International Travel Extention cover travelling within South Africa?

    • Members are not covered by the International Travel Insurance if they travel within the borders of South Africa.
    • Members are covered if they travel outside the borders of South Africa i.e. any country where a passport is needed.

    Is a return airline ticket needed to be covered?
    A confirmed return ticket for travel back to South Africa is needed to receive this benefit.

    What members must do to ensure they are covered?

    • Members must contact Europ Assistance at least 72 hours before their intended date of departure and declare the trip to them.
    • The following information must be supplied to Europ Assistance on application for international travel insurance:
      • Reality membership number
      • CAMAF principal membership number
      • Name and Surname
      • Identity Number
      • Nationality and Country of Residence
      • Departure date from South Africa
      • Return date to South Africa
      • Final destination travelling to before returning to South Africa
    • Europ Assistance contact number: 0860 333 432

    What will happen if member do not declare trip to Europ Assistance?
    If members do not declare their trip to Europ Assistance at least 72 hours prior to departure they will not be covered by the International Travel Extention.

    Are members covered for the full duration of the trip?

    • The International Travel Extention only provides cover for trips up to 90 days (including the day member leaves South Africa and the day of return to South Africa)
    • Members who travel for longer periods than 90 days must ensure they are covered for the balance of the trip by either arranging additional travel cover with Europ Assistance or their travel agent.

    What are members covered for?
    Members are covered for emergency medical and related expenses outside South Africa:

    • Emergency treatment and accommodation
    • Transport for medical reasons
    • Pocket money for hospital stays and an amount for interrupting the holiday
    • Related expenses like a visit by family members etc.

    Where can members find out more detail about the International Travel Extention cover?

    • All details of cover are contained in the policy wording issued by Europ Assitance. Members need to ensure they receive a copy of the contract before their trip by contacting Europ Assistance. They also need to ensure that a copy of the contract is taken with when travelling.
    • The policy wording provides a schedule of benefits, maximum benefits payable, excesses and waiting periods applicable for every claim.

    Cover if member is on chronic medication or has a medical condition for the past 12 months?

    • Members qualify for cover should pre-existing medical conditions exist up until 70 years of age.
    • No cardiovascular pre-existing conditions are covered between 71 and 80 years.
    • The benefit is limited to a maximum of R250 000 and is only payable if the members is hospitalised as an in-patient for 48 hours or more.
    • Should members feel this cover is insufficient, they should either contact Europ Assistance or their travel agent for additional cover.
    • No claims will be payable should:
      • Members travel against the advice of their medical practitioner
      • Members travel abroad to obtain medical treatment

    What must members do in case of emergency?

    • In case of emergency members must contact Europ Assistance on +27 991 8600.
    • Should members not be able to contact Europ Assistance immediately due to the emergency, they must make contact as soon as possible.

    • LiquidRewards are not applicable to:

    When you sign the application form to join Reality or when you give your verbal consent to join Reality on a voice-recorded phone call, you confirm that Reality is authorised to draw the fees due for your Reality membership against your bank account or roll-up your fee into your latest Sanlam Personal Finance premium as follows:

    • Reality membership: R35 per month (open to all Sanlam Group clients)
    • Reality + membership: R99 per month
    • Reality ++ membership: R99 per month
    • Reality + Gym membership: R169 per month
    • Reality ++ Gym membership: R169 per month
    • Health Single membership: R 97.15 per month
    • Health Family membership: R 115.50 per month

    You understand and confirm your acceptance that these authorised withdrawals are processed by computer through the ACB Magnetic Tape Service/Debit Order/Multidata system.

    You understand and confirm your acceptance that details of each withdrawal are printed on your bank statement or on an accompanying voucher.

    You agree to pay any bank charges relating to this ACB Magnetic Tape Service/Debit Order/Multidata instruction.

    You understand that the fee collection of the Reality amounts fees due takes place at the first available opportunity and then monthly thereafter.

    You understand agree that, if it is possible for Reality to consolidate these Reality amounts fees due with an existing monthly debit-order instruction in favour of a Sanlam Group company against the same bank account, it is authorised to do so.

    If you later cancel or change your monthly debit- order instruction with which the Reality debit -order instruction was consolidated, Reality is entitled, once again, to consolidate these Reality amounts due, if this is possible. If the consolidation of these Reality amounts fees due with an existing monthly debit order is not possible, these amounts are deducted via a separate monthly debit order.

    You may cancel this authority by giving Reality 30 (thirty) days’ notice, in writing, and you understand and accept that you are not entitled to any refund of amounts that Sanlam Life withdrew while this authority was in force, if such amounts were legally owing to the ProgrammeReality.

    You agree to advise Reality, in writing, of any changes that may occur in your banking details.

    • User ID and password

    For security, identification, and verification purposes, you must enter your user ID and password each time that you log onto our website for appropriate activities when you use different aspects of Reality.

    Take care to keep your user ID and password secret: do not disclose these to any other person and do not keep them with your other Reality documents. Only you may use your user ID and password; you are responsible for all transactions carried out with your user ID and password.

    If you call our Reality call centre at 086 073 2548/9, we may ask you for certain information, such as your Reality user ID. However, there will never be any reason for anybody – not even our staff – to know your password. Do not, under any circumstances, provide your password to anyone.

    If you believe that your user ID and password have been lost, stolen, or compromised, contact our Reality call centre at 086 073 2548/9 immediately and ask for them to be deactivated. Any delay in your notifying us is regarded as either wilful intent or negligence on your part. Keep any reference number that our Reality call centre gives you as proof of the fact that you have notified us of your security risk. Until you contact us to deactivate your user ID and password, we are not responsible for any transactions performed without your knowledge or consent and we are not liable whatsoever for any loss that you may suffer as a result.

    RealityPoints

    RealityPoints is no longer issued. However, a member with RealityPoints can still redeem their points on our Reality Awards online catalogue.

    Spending RealityPoints
    You can spend your RealityPoints in the following ways:

    • By visiting our online Reality catalogue available on our website and selecting any of the more than 5 000 items available.
    • By phoning our Reality call centre and instructing your Reality agent to buy any of the more than 5 000 items available on our Reality website on your behalf.

    Note that all RealityPoints in deleted member accounts are forfeited and transferred to the Reality trust account after 30 days.

    Shopping on our Reality website

    Reality has an online shopping catalogue located on its website where you can spend your RealityPoints, each point being worth 10c. The products on our website are subject to availability and vary from time to time; all the products and services on our website are detailed in the product description.

    The products advertised in our various Reality marketing material are limited to stock availability and we have no obligation to make any product that has been sold out available, even if it still appears in the marketing material.

    If a product becomes unavailable while you are buying it or after you have bought it and if it is not be possible for us to fulfil your order with a replacement product, we try towill inform you within 7 (seven) working days of the unavailability of the product that you have bought and we will refund the full purchase price that may have been withdrawn from your Reality account directly into your Reality account as soon as is reasonably possible.

    Topping up you RealityPoints account
    If you do not have enough RealityPoints in your Reality account to buy a particular product or service on our website, you can buy extra RealityPoints with rands. You can do this only, however, when you buy the product or service and not at any other time.

    If you cancel the purchase for which you bought your extra RealityPoints, we will refund you the product price – including your RealityPoints – in RealityPoints directly into your Reality account.

    Delivery of products bought on our Reality website
    Any product that you buy from our Reality online catalogue is delivered only to a physical address chosen by you when you buy the product. Such a product excludes airtime, since this is automatically loaded onto your cell phone within 24 (twenty-four) hours. No product, excluding magazines, is delivered to a postal address; in the case of magazines, make sure that the delivery address is one where you receive delivery of post by the South African Postal ServicesOffice.

    The physical address chosen by you must be within the borders of the Republic of South Africa. We do not deliver to all areas in the Republic of South Africa and these areas are designated as restricted areas. We will phone you if your physical address falls in a restricted area.

    Pricing of products on our Reality website

    Returns and refunds

    Tax on RealityPoints

    Using your Reality card

    Only you may use your Reality card and then only for identification purposes.

    You may have only one Reality card linked to your Reality account.

    Dormant status of your Reality account

    If you do not earn RealityPoints or spend RealityPoints in your Reality account for 6 (six) months, your account is considered dormant. We then deduct a dormancy administration fee from your Reality account every month to cover the costs of maintaining your account on our system until you either earn or spend RealityPoints or until your account reaches a zero balance, whichever comes first. We may then close your Reality account.

    Deceased estates

    The beneficiaries and/or executor of a deceased estate must notify Reality in the event of the death of a Reality member. All RealityPoints in Reality accounts belonging to deceased estates are frozen. The executor of a deceased estate can transfer the RealityPoints in such Reality accounts to another member’s Reality account or the personal Reality account is closed and the points are forfeited.

    Fraudulent activities

    We are committed to ensuring the security of your use of.

    We therefore reserve the right to investigate any loss suffered by you alleged to have occurred as a result of fraud via our Reality website or your Reality card.

    If you are a victim of fraud, inform us immediately as soon as you become aware that a fraudulent transaction has occurred on your Reality account and report the matter to your nearest police station. You will be required to cooperate both with us and with the police in any investigation conducted into any loss that you may suffer. We investigate all reported cases of Reality fraud and, provided that you comply with the safety measures listed in our security policy, we may reimburse you after the investigation and prosecution for any loss that you may suffer because of fraud that has occurred via our Reality website or your Reality card.

    Charges to your Reality account

    Note that, when you complete the registration form, you authorise us to make the following withdrawals from your Reality account:

    • The value, in RealityPoints, of any amount that may be due by you to us.
    • Dormancy administration fees on all dormant Reality accounts as from the sixth month of dormancy.
    • The value, in RealityPoints, of any amount that you may have obtained as a result of fraud or misconduct or that we did not intend to accrue to you.

    Lost, stolen, or damaged Reality cards

    If your Reality card is lost, stolen or damaged, it is your responsibility to cancel your Reality card immediately either online on our Reality website or by calling our Reality call centre at 086 073 2548/9.

  • The photo(s) submitted must be the applicants own and must have been captured by the applicant.
  • An applicant may submit up to 10 photos.
  • Images are judged on their technical and artistic merits.
  • The photo(s) must be submitted via our third party application on the competition tab under the profile picture.
  • Photo entries on our wall will not be considered.

Phase 2:

  • The judges will choose a shortlist of finalists that will be displayed in the ‘finalist’ album in the photography competition app. Facebook fans vote for their favourite photo to win by clicking on ‘Submit’.
  • The top 5 photos as selected by the Reality panel of judges will be posted on 18 January 2012.
  • This phase will run from 18 January to 31 January 2012.
  • A fan can vote for one photo per day.
  • By voting (by clicking in the ‘Submit’ button) a fan is automatically entered into the competition to win double tickets for two pamper treatments.
  • The free pamper voucher entitles the winner to a free pamper treatment for him/her and a friend as offered by the selected salon.
  • The nature of the free treatments varies from venue to venue. The treatments offered are as stipulated by the individual salon/therapist and are non-negotible.
  • The voucher can only be used once and allows for only one pamper treatment to be redeemed per person.
  • All extra customers will be required to pay the full price per treatment, and all future booking will be charged at the full price.
  • Winners of the double pamper treatments will be announced on a daily basis via e-mail between 18 January to 31 January 2012.

  • Ending your participation in Reality

We may end your participation in Reality at any time, for any reason whatsoever, on notice to you. If we end your participation in Reality, we will not be liable for any damage or loss, of any nature, suffered by you or any third party.

You may end your participation in Reality on 30 (thirty) days’ prior notice to us via fax (021 700 8750), e-mail (info@reality.co.za), phone (086 073 2548/9), or letter. This means that you will still be liable for one month’s premium.

Benefits available through Reality are no longer available to you on the termination of your membership of Reality.

Sharing of Information can be in such a detailed, abbreviated, or coded form as may from time to time be decided by Reality or by the operators. We therefore take all reasonable precaution to ensure that your use of Reality is secure but we are not liable for any loss or damage that you may suffer because of your using Reality.

We are not liable to you or any third party for any loss, death, disability, injury, or damage suffered by you or any third party, including your dependants, arising out of, in connection with, as a result of, or related to your use of the services or products of any Reality partner. You agree and confirm your acceptance that any claim, of whatever nature, is instituted only against the partner concerned.

You hereby indemnify us and keep our employees indemnified against all actions, proceedings, costs, damages, expenses, penalties, claims, demands, and liabilities of any kind arising directly from death, disability, injury or damage suffered by your dependant’s participation in Reality, as contemplated in these Reality terms and conditions.

  • Movies, Dining and DVDs Benefits
  • The Reality benefits entitles the member to Movie, Dining and DVDs benefits.
  • The DVDs benefit allows a member to buy 2 DVDs for R99. The price includes registered postage.
  • The Dining benefit entitles the member to one free main meal; the cheaper of the 2 main meals will be for free, to a maximum value of R120. The free main meal will be the cheaper meal. Buffet meals are excluded from this R120 offer. All additional courses and drinks will be paid for at full price.Payment needs to be made at the restaurant.
  • Reality member calls 0860 732 548/9 and selects the Reality Benefits option and then option 1 on the menu to make a booking. All bookings must be made using the “Personal Assistant Booking Service”. (This is essential and a pre-requisite for offer redemption). The booking must be made during office hours 8:30 – 17:00 Monday to Friday.
  • Travel to and from the venue is for the member’s own expense.
  • The Reality number must be quoted each time you call Reality on 0860 732 548/9 to make a booking.
  • The Reality comprehensive offer is based on standard prices and may not be negotiated.
  • The offer is subject to promotional availability. Participating venues reserve the right to vary times and offer availability (e.g. Public holidays).
  • Cancellations of bookings must be made telephonically at 0860 732 548/9 unless outside of office hours when the onus is on the member to cancel the booking at the venue booked. Cancellation must be made 24 hours in advance.
  • These offers are not exchangeable for cash or for sale.
  • Participating venues are all contracted to participate in the offer. Real Futures (Pty) Ltd, its agents and distributors cannot be held responsible for any subsequently declining acceptance of the booking for reasons of their own.
  • Real Futures (Pty) Ltd, its agents and distributors accept no responsibility, financial or otherwise, for the misuse of the benefits and are not liable for any personal loss or injury at featured venues.
  • Bookings across benefits are not allowed. E.g. you cannot buy a DVD and get a Movie code for free.
  • The Dining benefit can only be used once per day at the same time and is valid dependent on active Reality membership.

  • The Movie benefit allows a member to buy a movie code for R30 and get another one free.
  • The movie codes can only be used at Nu Metro cinemas nationwide.
  • Reality members on any option (this includes Reality standard, Reality+, Reality++, Reality+ Gym, Reality++ Gym, Reality Health Family and Reality Health Single) are entitled to buy 2D movie codes.
  • A Reality member not on the Reality + or Reality Health options does not have the right to book a 3D movie.
  • Movie codes cannot be used for 4D movies.
  • The maximum amount of movie codes you may purchase are 4 per day. This entitles you to 8 movie codes.
  • A maximum of 10 movie codes may be purchased for the month. This entitles you to 20 movie codes.
  • Movie codes are valid for 3 years from date of purchase.
  • This movie code does not guarantee you a seat for a specific movie. Movies are to be booked by the individual at the theatre of your choice, subject to availability.
  • Movie codes bought on this website will be sms’d to your cell phone shortly after purchase. Should there be a system failure on the weekend; the codes will take 48hrs to deliver.
  • DVDs may be returned only when defective, damaged or if the product supplied is not the same product as what was ordered. If the DVDs are defective in any way this must be reported as soon as reasonably possible after the product having been delivered to you and must be returned to us at 5th Floor Elkay House, 186 Loop Street, Cape Town, 8001 within a period of two weeks after delivery. If the DVDs are not the same as what was ordered this must be reported within 48 hours of delivery. Any damage must also be immediately reported, within 48 hours of delivery.
  • If you are returning DVDs via post office please package it carefully so that it does not become damaged en route. Please include your return address. You will be refunded for the postage costs.
  • On receipt DVDs will be inspected and if found to indeed be defective the member will be entitled to have the product replaced.
  • If a returned DVD is found to not be defective, member will be liable for the costs incurred in having such product returned back to the member.
  • There is no returns policy on the basis of a member changing their choice once order has been placed on this, the Sanlam Reality website.
